VNB and APE jumps, margins ease

HDFC Life Insurance Company, on consolidated basis, has recorded 15% increase in net profit to Rs 478.97 crore in the quarter ended June 2024 (Q1FY2025). The total premium income has increased 10% to Rs 12,811 crore in Q1FY2025, driven by 10% jump in the renewal premium collection to Rs 6,411 crore, while new business premium increased 9% to Rs 6,400 crore. APE moved up 23% to Rs 2,866 crore as individual APE increased 31% to Rs 2,467 crore in Q1FY2025.

The company has exhibited an improvement in the persistency level with 13th month persistency rising to 88% in Q1FY2025 from 87% in Q1FY2024, while 61st month persistency also rose to 56% from 53%.

The value of new business (VNB) galloped 18% to Rs 718 crore in Q1FY2025. New business margin for Q1FY2025 stood at 25.00% showing decline on sequential basis from 26.30% for FY2024 and over a year ago from 26.20% in Q1FY2024.
