Company History

Dr M Soy and General Food was incorporated in 1983 with the Registrar of Companies, Delhi and Haryana. Company is managed by Prem Prakash Gupta as managing director.

The company set up a manufacturing unit for soya nuggets in 1988 with an installed capacity of 300 tpa. In respect of the production of soya nuggets, capacity utilisation has steadily increased from 42.50% (1990-91) to the optimum level of 75%, during 1993-94.

The company diversified into the manufacture of tin containers by setting up a unit in 1990 with an installed capacity of 8 lac containers pa. The tin containers are used by manufacturers of edible oil and vanaspati spread over the entire country. When the Government of India removed the turnover restriction of Rs 2 cr for the applicability of notional credit of 5% under MODVAT Scheme for 1993-94, the company increased the installed capacity from 8 lac containers pa to 12 lac containers pa, and also achieved 100% capacity utilisation of increased installed capacity.

In 1995-96, trial runs for the solvent extraction module at Koshi Kotwan was completed and commercial production is expected to commence soon.
