Banking stocks edge higher

Banking stocks were trading in green, with the BSE BANKEX index increasing 364.54 points or 0.62% at 59299.05 at 09:47 IST.


Among the components of the BSE BANKEX index, Bank of Baroda (up 3.11%), Canara Bank (up 1.46%),Federal Bank Ltd (up 0.86%),ICICI Bank Ltd (up 0.72%),Axis Bank Ltd (up 0.63%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were HDFC Bank Ltd (up 0.45%), State Bank of India (up 0.43%), Yes Bank Ltd (up 0.29%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd (up 0.14%).

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank Ltd (down 0.92%), turned lower.

At 09:47 IST, the BSE SmallCap was down 118.81 or 0.26% at 46266.89.

The BSE 150 MidCap Index index was down 15.71 points or 0.11% at 14418.53.

The Nifty 50 index was up 67.85 points or 0.29% at 23554.7.

The BSE Sensex index was up 207.13 points or 0.27% at 77495.63.

On BSE,1499 shares were trading in green, 1641 were trading in red and 131 were unchanged.
