Banking shares rise

Banking stocks were trading with gains, with the BSE BANKEX index rising 1072.12 points or 1.72% at 63365.39 at 09:47 IST.


Among the components of the BSE BANKEX index, Yes Bank Ltd (up 4.42%), Axis Bank Ltd (up 3.05%),State Bank of India (up 2.92%),IndusInd Bank Ltd (up 2.71%),Federal Bank Ltd (up 2.39%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Canara Bank (up 2.34%), Bank of Baroda (up 1.67%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd (up 1.1%), HDFC Bank Ltd (up 1.07%), and ICICI Bank Ltd (up 0.74%).

At 09:47 IST, the BSE SmallCap was up 237.92 or 0.5% at 48184.58.

The BSE 150 MidCap Index index was up 165.43 points or 1.13% at 14782.7.

The Nifty 50 index was up 178.35 points or 0.75% at 24030.

The BSE Sensex index was up 528.68 points or 0.67% at 79081.88.

On BSE,2202 shares were trading in green, 1071 were trading in red and 174 were unchanged.
