SAIL slides as chairman & MD Amarendu Prakash resigns

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) fell 1.38% to Rs 153.80 after Amarendu Prakash, chairman and Managing Director, has resigned from his position, effective 1 April 2026, following approval from the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.


Consequently, he has also ceased to be a member of the SAIL Board.

In the interim, Krishna Kumar Singh, Director (Personnel) at SAIL, has been given additional charge of the post of chairman and managing director for a period of three months, from 2 April 2026, to 1 July 2026, or until a regular incumbent is appointed, whichever is earlier.

The move comes in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations 2015, ensuring timely disclosure of board-level changes.

Steel Authority of India is engaged primarily in steel manufacturing business in the country.

The company’s consolidated net profit soared 189.2% to Rs 374.03 crore on 11.8% rise in revenue from operations to Rs 27,371.42 crore in Q3 FY26 over Q3 FY25.
