India and Canada have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on national security and law enforcement following a meeting between Ajit Doval and Nathalie Drouin in Canada on 7 February 2026, as part of their regular security dialogue.
Both sides reviewed progress on ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and security of citizens and agreed to adopt a shared work plan to guide practical collaboration on priority security issues.
The two countries also decided to appoint security and law-enforcement liaison officers and deepen agency-level cooperation to improve communication and enable timely information sharing. Key focus areas include tackling illegal drug flows, particularly fentanyl precursors, and transnational organised criminal networks.
In addition, India and Canada committed to formalising cooperation on cybersecurity policy and information sharing, and to continue discussions on collaboration related to fraud and immigration enforcement, in line with domestic laws and international obligations.
During the visit, Doval also met Canada’s Minister for Public Safety, Gary Anandasangaree, on 6 February 2026.
