Gross market borrowings at record Rs 17.2 lakh crore in FY27, says FM

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that government will borrow a record 17.2 lakh crore in fiscal year 2026–27, leading to elevated bond supply. The net market borrowing is likely to be at Rs 11.7 lakh crore for the next fiscal year, slightly below the level in 2025-26.
