JSW Steel inches up after strong Q1 production data JSW Steel rose 0.85% to Rs 718.65 at 13:46 IST on BSE after the company said its crude steel production rose 27% to 2.14 million tonnes in Q1 June 2012 over Q1 June 2011.
The company made this announcement during trading hours today, 11 July 2012. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 98.33 points or 0.56% to 17,520.02. On BSE, 1.97 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 4.74 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock hit a high of Rs 722.80 and a low of Rs 708.10 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 940 on 15 July 2011. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 464 on 20 December 2011. The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 10 July 2012, surging 11.21% compared with the Sensex's 5.38% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 2.26% as against Sensex's 2.17% rise. The large-cap steel maker has equity capital of Rs 223.12 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10. JSW Steel's production of flat steel products jumped 36% to 1.61 million tonnes in Q1 June 2012 over Q1 June 2011. The production of long steel products rose 27% to 0.44 million tonnes in Q1 June 2012 over Q1 June 2011. JSW Steel said its Vijayanagar, Karnataka works could operate at about 80% capacity utilization during Q1 June 2012 due to constraints in availability and quality of iron ore in E-Auction in Karnataka. JSW Steel's consolidated net profit fell 3% to Rs 769.73 crore on 40.8% growth in net sales to Rs 10152.68 crore in Q4 March 2012 over Q4 March 2011.
