Hero MotoCorp (HMCL) on Tuesday introduced a 125 cubic-centimeter (cc) motorcycle Ignitor. The Ignitor motorcycle will be available in two versions, costing Rs 55,900 for the drum-self-cast variant and Rs 57,900 for the disc-self-cast variant (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). The sporty looking bike is loaded with impressive features that include digital-analog combo meter console, stylish split seat, classy front cowl, striking trapezoidal headlight, dazzling tail light, adjustable rear shock-absorbers, body-coloured rear grip and dual tone rear view mirrors.

Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp said, “Every new launch of HMCL flows from a clear strategy to further consolidate its leadership position across segments. With Ignitor, we aim to bolster our presence in the growing deluxe segment. It combines sturdiness and superior technology with contemporary style and yet comes with an attractive price tag. We are confident that with such an irresistible package, Ignitor would definitely appeal across the young adult segments.”

With this, Hero MotoCorp has already launched three new models in quick succession – the Impulse, Maestro and now Ignitor. The company had showcased all these models at the Auto Expo in Delhi in January this year along with yet-to-be launched 110cc motorcycle “Passion X Pro”.

The Ignitor will add to the Glamour and the Super Splendor -- the two 125cc motorcycle models sold currently by Hero MotoCorp. Hero MotoCorp sells motorcycles with 100cc to 225cc engines. It also sells two scooter models, including the Maestro.

HMCL's total sales rose 4.26% to 5,34,091 units in June 2012 over June 2011. HMCL's cumulative sales for the first quarter (April-June) of this financial year (2012-13) has touched 16,42,292 units - its highest-ever sales in any single quarter. The company had sold 5,56,644 two-wheelers in May, its highest-ever monthly sales, surpassing its previous highest of 5,51,557 units, recorded only the previous month (April'12). The company had sold 15,29,577 units in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year (2011-12).

Commenting on the sales performance, Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp said, “With this quarterly performance, Hero MotoCorp has yet again set a new benchmark in the industry. It is all the more heartening as these numbers have come against the backdrop of an overall dampened sentiment in the industry and the economy.

We have been growing consistently and going forward, we are confident of keeping up this momentum. With new product launches and foray into new international markets, we are looking forward to a lot of exciting action in the coming months.”

HMCL's net profit rose 20.3% to Rs 603.59 crore on 12.2% growth in total income to Rs 6139.90 crore in Q4 March 2012 over Q4 March 2011.

The core operating profit margin (OPM) fell by 10 basis points to 15.3% in Q4 March 2012 on account of increase in raw material costs.

HMCL is the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of production capacity.
