Marico gains after preferential allotment to two overseas investors

Marico rose 1.17% to Rs 173.05 at 11:26 IST on BSE after the company said it has allotted a total of 2.94 crore equity shares at Rs 170 per share to two overseas investors on preferential allotment basis.

The company made this announcement after market hours on Wednesday, 16 May 2012.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 165.27 points or 1.03% to 16,195.36.

On BSE, 8,137 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 70,068 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 174.45 and a low of Rs 170.20 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 184.40 on 25 April 2012. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 128.65 on 17 May 2011.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 16 May 2012, falling 3.88% compared with the Sensex's 6.54% fall. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, surging 5.46% as against the Sensex's 11.7% fall.

The large-cap FMCG firm has an equity capital of Rs 64.44 crore. Face value per share is Re 1.

Marico has allotted 2.2 crore shares to Indivest Pte, an affiliate of Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and 73.52 lakh shares to Baring India Private Equity Fund III Listed Investments, at Rs 170 per share on preferential allotment basis.

Marico's consolidated net profit fell 2.7% to Rs 69.70 crore on 22.9% growth in net sales to Rs 917.71 crore in Q4 March 2012 over Q4 March 2011. Consolidated net profit rose 10.7% to Rs 317.11 crore on 27.9% growth in net sales to Rs 3996.81 crore in the year ended 31 March 2012 over the year ended 31 March 2011.
