Sun TV Network declines after Q3 net profit slips Sun TV Network tumbled 5.80% at Rs 320.75 at 13:55 IST on BSE after net profit fell 25.5% to Rs 167.88 crore on 28.9% fall in net sales to Rs 425.11 crore in Q3 December 2011 over Q3 December 2010.
The company announced the results after trading hours on Friday, 10 February 2012. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 8.95 points, or 0.05%, to 17,739.74. On BSE, 1.22 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against an average daily volume of 1.78 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock hit a high of Rs 335.90 and a low of Rs 317.40 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 463.80 on 25 March 2011 and a 52-week low of Rs 214.50 on 4 October 2011. The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month until 10 February 2012, gaining 22.13% compared with the Sensex's 9.80% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 20.89% as against 2.23% rise in the Sensex. The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 197.04 crore. Face value per share is Rs 5. Sun TV Network said its international subscription revenues were up by 19% and the DTH revenues up by a similar 19%. The company's board declared third interim dividend of Rs 2.50 per share on the face value of Rs 5 per share. Commenting on the digitisation of cable television the company said, "In the post digitisation scenario, both DTH and cable network companies will record big gains in market shares, which in turn will prove to be an important upside to all broadcasters, who today are unable to capture the full revenue potential of the addressable market. In case of Sun TV, the benefits of digitisation will start with effect from 1 July 2012 with respect to Chennai metropolitan area. The other key metros of Bangalore and Hyderabad will commence contributing to revenues from March 2013." Sun TV said it recently launched 12 channels and has a bouquet of total 33 channels. Sun TV Network offers television channels and FM radio stations in several Indian languages, covering movies, entertainment, music, documentary and news.
