Chambal Fertilisers off 6.2% in 2 days after reporting net loss in Q3 Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals lost 2.36% to Rs 76.65 at 12:22 IST on BSE, extending Tuesday's 3.9% fall triggered by the company reporting net loss in Q3 December 2011.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 40.39 points, or 0.25% to 16,425.66. On BSE, 2.16 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against an average daily volume of 5.15 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock hit a high of Rs 79.45 and a low of Rs 76.60 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 118.50 on 9 September 2011. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 65.90 on 25 February 2011. The mid-cap stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 17 January 2012, rising 0.13% compared with Sensex's 6.29% return. The scrip had also underperformed the market over the past one quarter, falling 22.32% as against Sensex's 3.28% fall. The company has an equity capital of Rs 416.21 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10. The Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals stock has lost 6.2% in two trading sessions from Rs 81.75 on Monday, 16 January 2012, after the company reported net loss in Q3 December 2011. The company announced Q3 December 2011 results during trading hours on Tuesday, 17 January 2012. The stock had lost 3.9% to settle at Rs 78.50 on Tuesday, 17 January 2012. Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals reported a net loss of Rs 1.24 crore in Q3 December 2011, compared with net profit of Rs 107.42 crore in Q3 December 2010. Net sales rose 31.8% to Rs 1783.71 crore in Q3 December 2011 over Q3 December 2010. The net loss was due to a huge deferred tax liability during the quarter. Due to a switch over to Tonnage Tax scheme for the shipping division, the company has ascertained deferred tax liability of Rs 185.86 crore as on 1 April 2011. The deferred tax liability is being accounted for during last two quarters of the financial year 2011-12. Accordingly, an amount of Rs 92.93 crore has been accounted in the current quarter (Q3 December 2011), the company said. The company's profit from ordinary activities before tax fell 26.6% to Rs 111.18 crore in Q3 December 2011 over Q3 December 2010. Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals is one of the largest private sector fertilizer producers in India. Chambal Fertilisers has three divisions -- agri-inputs, shipping and textiles.
