Strong Q2 earnings power Jaiprakash Power Ventures Jaiprakash Power Ventures rose 2.69% to Rs 38.15 at 10:35 IST on BSE after net profit jumped 222.7% to Rs 280.65 crore on 163.1% spurt in net sales to Rs 649.73 crore in Q2 September 2011 over Q2 September 2010.
The company declared the results on Saturday, 12 November 2011. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 144.99 points, or 0.84% to 17,337.81. On BSE, 3.13 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 1.37 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock hit a high of Rs 39.10 and a low of Rs 37.80 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 31.25 on 26 September 2011. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 67.35 on 11 November 2010. The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 11 November 2011, rising 3.77% compared with the Sensex's 3.97% return. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 2.62% as against 0.78% gain in the Sensex. The large-cap power generation company has an equity capital of Rs 2624.76 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10. Jaypee Group Jaiprakash Power Ventures currently operates the largest hydroelectric power plant in the private sector in India. The company's expansion projects in different stages of implementation include hydro, thermal and transmission.
