Cairn India advances on high volumes Gillette India, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Pipavav Shipyard and Nelco are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 18 April 2011.
Cairn India clocked volume of 29.61 crore shares by 13:37 IST on BSE, a 617-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 4.80 lakh shares. The stock advanced 2.33% to Rs 344.40. Two bulks of 13.26 crore shares each were struck on the Cairn India counter at an average price of Rs 333.65 per share in opening trade on the BSE. Many other small bulk deals were also executed on the stock. Reportedly, Malaysian oil and gas explorer Petronas has sold its entire 14.9% stake or 28.34 crore shares in Cairn India through the block deals. Vedanta Resources has reportedly bought 11% while the balance 3.9% was bought by institutions. Gillette India notched up volume of 35,000 shares, a 24.77-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock rose 1.07% to Rs 1890 Zee Entertainment Enterprises saw volume of 19.38 lakh shares, a 20.02-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 97,000 shares. The stock jumped 8.10% to Rs 134.75 Pipavav Shipyard clocked volume of 64.31 lakh shares, a 8.98-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 7.16 lakh shares. The stock spurted 6.42% to Rs 87 Nelco saw volume of 7.81 lakh shares, a 5.17-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.51 lakh shares. The stock advanced 5.59% to Rs 93.50
