The BSE Sensex was up 73.63 points, or 0.42%, to 17223.43 on the back of a healthy rollover of September 2007 futures to October 2007.

On BSE, 9.29 lakh shares of the scrip were traded. The stock had an average daily volume of 8.02 lakh shares on BSE in past one quarter.

The scrip had touched a high of Rs 184.80 and a low of Rs 176.50 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 187.90 on 26 September 2007 and a 52-week low of Rs 111 on 28 February 2007.

The scrip had outperformed the market in the one-month to 27 September 2007, adding 20.66% as against the Sensex's 14.39% gain. It had also outperformed the market in the past three months, advancing 20.70% against the Sensex's 17.06% rise.

The large-cap natural gas and oil exploration firm has an equity capital of Rs 1778.40 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

The report suggests that the initial flow is around 1,500 barrels per day, adding Cairn is yet to inform the upstream regulator of the find.

Cairn India owns a 22.5% stake, while ONGC, Videocon Industries and Japanese firm Marubeni are the other stakeholders in the block.

Cairn India reported a net loss of Rs 7.57 crore on sales of Rs 0.36 crore in Q2 June 2007.

Cairn UK Holdings has 68.99% in the company.
